Highland Lodge

The room was awkward. Small just a small bed and a closet, and the room did not feel clean. Even when the hotel was practically empty, we still got a room directed right at the main street and the roadwork outside. Street work with loud hammering woke us up at 0700 in the morning. (The roadwork was stated on the hotel website, but was to be completed 10 weeks prior to our stay, so did not expect this to affect us. If we had known we had not booked here) Not worth the price, no service, no breakfast included. The pool was small but nice. One of the two listed restaurants that was open (the pizza place) was very good, but is not part of the hotel as I understand... Will not be staying here again.

Bad bad bed!! Tiny room, half of owned apartments. The pool smelle badly of clorine all over the corridords and superslow service. Personel not trained.. But hotel is cheep and sentral. Did not expect perfection though...... Geilo is a wery Nice place both summer and Winther. Recomended

Wanted to stay and explore the Norwegian mountains, so this hotel was ideally located. Had a nice room with a balcony to enjoy our breakfast (coffee and cake from the in house bakery). Ate 2 nice meals in the in house pizzeria ( they do burgers and past too). Staff very helpful. Self service check in, but easy to follow instructions. Slept really well despite it being on the main road. Not much car parking space for hotel guests though. Obviously designed primarily for the winter sports scene.

Giving any place a poor review is difficult for me, as usually there’s at least a couple good things about a hotel that can be highlighted. Sadly, this is my first 2/5 review. If it hadn’t been for the comfy bed, it’d be 1/5. Besides the convenient location between Oslo and Bergen and a nicely styled front desk area, the rest of the experience was lacking. Check-in and check-out was conducted by rather disinterested staff, and my room, a bit on the small side (this was just a stopover for the night) was incredibly noisy as there was some sort of machinery on the floor above making a loud humming sound that even ear plugs couldn’t cancel out. I called the night manager at 1 a.m. asking if there were any other rooms available, and was promised to be called back within two minutes as they apparently were busy. The callback never happened. The room literally had no extra power outlets for charging your phone and laptop (which is insane) and it was rather drab and outdated, with stains on the carpet and bedframe. Even more amazing was the lack of curtains in front of the window. Despite paying a somewhat low rate (by Norwegian standards) for a smaller single room, one should at least be allowed to expect a decent night’s sleep - the main function of any hotel. Leaving more exhausted in the morning than the night I arrived is somewhat of a major letdown. This place has so much potential - but they need to step up their game. Just my 2 cents.

The food here is excellent and the surroundings are nice. But it takes forever to get the ordered food and when finished, no one clears the table, offer us more drinks or even refills the water. I've been here quite a few times, both at busy - and quiet hours. When the food is served, we're completely forgotten. They could have made much more money on me, but no effort. No tip for the service, sadly, because a little effort would have earned much higher rating.

My husband and I stayed at Highland lodge for 11 nights for our honeymoon. The hotel is very well presented, cosy and looks recently refurbished. Our double room had a large comfy bed, balcony and spotlessly clean bathroom, there was also a smart TV and fast free wifi. The included breakfast was excellent: due to Covid there was a reduced menu and table service - all options we tried were great- and on a couple of days there was a well stocked buffet. The pool area was lovely and serene- large pool and hot tub, and a lovely sauna. The on site pizza restaurant and beef bar next door were both exquisite, and the bakery in the lobby had lovely parstries. Location was great for town and the ski bus, and there was ample free outside parking. The staff were brilliant, so helpful and accommodating. The only thing I would suggest is a kettle in the room would be great, however the staff very kindly provided us with plenty of hot water for tea whenever we needed it so wasn’t a problem. 10/10 would return!

Wij hadden een appartement en deze was prima. Alles goed schoon en lekker nieuw. Voldoende keukenmateriaal aanwezig. Fijne donkere gordijnen. Ruim balkon, alleen deze wiebelde mee als je eroverheen liep. Zal wel horen zo, ik vond het maar raar. Bed lag verschrikkelijk, vond ik. Maar mijn vriend vond het juist weer heerlijk liggen. Enige nadeel appartement: het was er warm en niet koud te krijgen. Zelfs met de voor- en balkondeur open bleef het 22 graden daarbinnen. Ook in de slaapkamer. Zwembad was prima. Water had een tikkie warmer mogen zijn. Er komen nog 2 complexen bij. Voorlopig zit je dus nog wel in de puin. Parkeren onder in de kelder. Inchecken: tja alles is al wel gezegd. Ik hou ervan als iemand me groet en welkom heet. Maar ja, hier hebben ze gekozen voor een beeldscherm. Het voelt niet vriendelijk en is kil. Supermarkt en restaurantjes op 200 meter afstand. Ideaal.

Wat een deceptie. Geen receptie maar een terminal om in te checken. Geen persoonlijk welkom. Waardeloze parkeerplaats op vieze ondergrond, geen keuze uit echt Noors bier, geen ontbijt, lawaaierige kamers. Na alle mooie ervaringen in Noorwegen was dit een dieptepunt.
